crops infirmary

This is one of my favorite crops from the original painting of the blackburn Royal Infirmary that i am using for my surroundings project.

This is on more of the crops from the original painting. Im enjoying seeing how you can crop your images from one painting to make a different look from the same painting.

My third an final crop from the original painting.

scan infirmary

To scan my work into the the computer i used image capture. I set the image resolution to 150dpi because it keeps the file at a smaller size. this was my first time using a mac or photoshop.

patterns in photoshop

Today in photo shop i learnt how to do patterns in my work some of this was mirror repeat and half drop repeat. I really enjoyed working on this as i know photo shop will be a big part of my job in fashion design.

Buildings project fashion an architect research

THE ARCHITECT AND THE FASHION DESIGNER

NEW YEAR, new fashion happening to start the countdown to - this time, courtesy of one Alexander McQueen and friends. McQueen, Vivienne Westwood and Hussein Chalayan are just some of the world-class British designers representing the fashion industry in a new exhibition, SKIN+BONES: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture, which opens at London's Somerset House next April. Focussing on the "visual and conceptual ideas that unite fashion and architecture, dating from the Eighties to the present day", the show will feature around 200 works - among them iconic garments, three-dimensional architectural models and film footage arranged in a series of themes such as shelter, identity, folding and draping - within a new installation designed by Eva Jiricna in the house's grounds. Boudicca, Comme des Garcons, Martin Margiela, Viktor & Rolf, Junya Watanabe, and Yohji Yamamoto are also involved, while Zaha Hadid, David Adjaye, Frank Gehry and Thomas Heatherwick are flying the flag for the architects. SKIN+BONES: Parallel Practices in Fashion and Architecture runs from April 24 to August 10 2008 at Somerset House, Strand, London WC2R 1LA; for more information, visit www.somersethouse.org. My 1st dress designed at home

My music inspired dress using recycled products

My two passions in life are fashion an music so I come up with the idea of using recycled sheet music to make a dress.

    music inspired clothing

researching music inspired clothing here is some clothes i have found.

    Music Video Fashion: Taiwan

Although the clothes seen in most music videos aren't exactly the type of clothes you'd see on everyday people, they give us inspiration for our own styles and creativity to DIY. The Lady Gaga effect has taken over Asia as a lot of singers try to go over the top and make a statement in their music videos. Here are a few that caught my eye these past couple of weeks.

Always the risk taker Taiwanese singer Jolin Tsai features some unique outfit choices in her comeback this summer, including a Buzz Lightyear inspired costume that was heavily criticized by netizens.
this is showing the influence the music industry and fashion are having in asia.

    sherrens lesson recycled products

Ollie Lucas Im using this artist from Melbourne Australia who uses rycycled products these are spools you findwire wrapped around. His quote is one mans rubbish is another mans treasure. he has also been so kind to message me back when i joined his group on Facebook and explained he was a big inspiration to me he wished me all the luck with the brief i found this extremely nice and inspiring.

these are some of my favorite pieces from ollie lucas using an old spool that wire comes on he has designed them.

    danielles work recycled runway

Danielle's lessons the music inspired project i have strarted to make a dress my process so far.
    stage1
get shape of basque out of chicken wire.

    stage 2
wrap plenty of plastic bags round a mannequin because i plan on using paper mache to build up the bodice for my dress this would stop the problem of the paper macho sticking to the bodice.

step 3 I've layers lots and lots of paper (newspaper) then because of the problem with the basque shape not being drawn in enough at the waste i started to pull in the waist with lots of masking tape this helped a lot then i just carried on building up the bust area and the hips.
then for the top bit of the dress after covering the whole basque my last few layers i will be using sheet music
    .
after constructing my basque i made fan shapes with a4 music paper stapled them at top then stapled 3 at a time together after this processs to attach them i foound away of poutting to holes at the top of this an threaging them through the basque an twisting the thin mental sticks into the chicken wire underneath to keep the skirt part firmly in place.

on the machine with the free foot i did some music symbols and added them to the dress.
then added red ribbon to finish of round the top im etremely happy with this dress and have had amazing feed back on facebook saying everyone would wear it and sharing it to there friends.
At 1st this was the finished back but was not happy so added a diffrent bow.
this was the finished dress. my feed back was amazing and people said they cant wait till i start selling my dresses.

when i come to the end of my finished project i realised that my work did not tie into my abandoned research properly so what i did was get loads of dye and paint it on splash it on an burn the ends to give it the distressed look usually found with abandoned buildings.

    music inspired clothing

    pictures inspired by music
this is the dress i aim to create.

marilyn monroe was a massive music inspiration especially looking back at 50,s style clothing.
the newer generation inspired by michael jackson.
this is a beautiful dress i found on the internet with dresses inspired by music.
even down to swimsuits being music inspired.
    and also baby wear.
